For a first lesson
Explain whether you are comfortable in the water and whether you have surfed before. Ask about group size, the instructor’s qualifications, suitable equipment and what happens when conditions are unsuitable. Confirm how much of the booking is time in the water and how much is travel or preparation.
For a trip built around surfing
Leave flexibility in the itinerary: the most suitable location can change. Check board storage, transport and the distance between your stay and the daily meeting point. Do not assume a beginner class and coaching for experienced surfers offer the same format. Confirm cancellation or rescheduling arrangements before paying.
